Hi, my name is Jean Ross. I have lived in Orkney all my life and have almost 50 years experience of these beautiful islands; from playing in 8 feet snow drifts on the family farm to learning to swim in the chilly waters of Scapa Flow!
I have guided all of Orkney’s main archaeological visitor attractions and also know some quieter and more secluded places to visit. My tours can be tailored to suit your interests and requirements. Archaeology, heritage and folklore tours along with general wildlife walks focusing on the islands birdlife, mammals, wildflowers and geology.
A tour can be organised to suit the varied ages and interests within a single group, from children to grandparents. For example, rockpooling for weird and wonderful creatures along Birsay Beach might accompany a visit to the Brough of Birsay’s Pictish and Viking archaeological sites. All whilst looking out for Puffins and other seabirds on the cliffs!
